The Races
The Weavers
Born with the rare ability to shape and channel magic, Weavers have existed alongside humanity for centuries, hidden in plain sight. Once more numerous, their numbers have dwindled over generations as old families died out and their knowledge faded. Those who remain are secretive, powerful, and bound by bloodlines that stretch back centuries. Nathan Briggs is one of them — though he doesn't yet know what that means.
The Vampires
Ancient, powerful, and nothing like the myths suggest. Garlic may make them ill, but crosses and wooden stakes leave them unimpressed. Vampires desire blood and power, and their home world of Sangärd is as complex and political as any human society. Not all vampires are enemies. Some are friends. Some are family. And some, like Ben, are people you'd least expect.
The Fae
The fae of Eriathus view humans as a destructive force and guard their world jealously. Ancient beyond reckoning, they move through the world with fluid grace, deeply connected to their environment. Their queen rules from Eriathus with a wisdom that is not always easy to access. But Nathan's bloodline runs deeper into the fae world than he could ever have imagined.
The Demons
Demons want dominance. They desire to enslave humanity and have chafed against the restrictions of the Conclave for centuries. They travel between worlds through abyssal rifts, leaving behind the faint but unmistakable scent of sulfur. Of all the races, they are the most openly hostile to the fragile peace. And something ancient and sinister stirs within their ranks.
The Conclave
For centuries, the Conclave has been the only thing standing between an uneasy peace and all-out war. An ancient order of representatives drawn from each of the four worlds — Earth, Eriathus, Sangärd, and Gehenna — the Conclave was formed to maintain balance between the races and prevent any single faction from dominating the others.
It has not always been easy. Centuries ago, a similar threat nearly tore the Conclave apart. New rules were written. New practices established. And an uneasy peace held.
Now the enemies of the Conclave are making themselves known again. The rebellion is coming from within. And this time, it feels different.
The Worlds
New England, USA
Where Nathan Briggs grew up and where the story begins. The Briggs family estate sits on land the family has owned for generations, since their ancestors emigrated from Europe to escape laws prohibiting Weavers from practising their trade. Home, family, and the place Nathan thought he understood...until he didn't.
England
London and the English countryside play a central role as Nathan's world expands. Ancient magical libraries, hidden histories, and the first glimpses of the wider Conclave world lie waiting beneath the surface of the familiar.
Croatia
Where Nathan first meets Serena, in the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik. A chance encounter that turns out to be anything but.
Alhora
A breathtaking isle in the Mediterranean, with snow-capped peaks, ancient forests, winding waterways, and a blue-green sea at its edges. Villages and towns dot the landscape. Beautiful on the surface — and far more complex beneath it. Home to the weaver masters of old, and the destination that drives the heart of the series. Time moves differently here: two days on Alhora equals one day on the mainland.
Eriathus
The home world of the fae. Ancient, beautiful, and not easily entered by outsiders. The fae use sylvan rifts to travel between worlds, and Eriathus is guarded jealously by its queen. Nathan must find a way in — and a way to earn its ruler's trust.
Sangärd
The vampire home world. Complex, political, and nothing like the myths of human imagination. Ben's first visit leaves a significant impression — apart from the fight with the prince.
Gehenna
The demon home world. Dark, brooding, and the source of the most dangerous threat the Conclave has ever faced. Little is known about Gehenna by those outside it. That, in itself, is cause for concern.
Meet the Characters
Nathan Briggs
A young New Englander returning home after a year travelling the world, Nathan thought the biggest challenge ahead of him was figuring out what to do with his life. He was wrong. Born into a family with a hidden magical legacy, Nathan is drawn into a world of ancient power, warring races, and a rebellion that threatens everything. His journey from reluctant outsider to the centre of the conflict is the heart of the Old Blood Saga.
Serena
Born in Croatia, Serena first crosses Nathan's path in Dubrovnik — apparently by chance. Warm, knowledgeable, and deeply connected to the world Nathan is only just discovering, she is far more than she first appears. Her family, like Nathan's, has deep roots in the hidden world.
Ben
Nathan's best friend since childhood. Brilliant, loyal, and completely unprepared for the world Nathan drags him into. Ben's life is changed irrevocably in Book 1 — and his journey through the series is one of its most compelling threads.
Davorin
A senior member of the Conclave and one of the few Nathan comes to trust in a world where trust is hard to earn. Wise, measured, and deeply connected to the hidden politics of the races, Davorin serves as a guide and mentor as Nathan finds his footing. But the Conclave is fracturing, and even its most trusted members are not without secrets.
Hedlund Briggs
Nathan's grandfather. A man of deep mystery whose apparent death in a plane crash sets the entire saga in motion. Hedlund's legacy runs through every book in the series — his history, his choices, and his bloodline casting a long shadow over everything Nathan discovers. More than anyone else in the Old Blood Saga, Hedlund is the question at the heart of it all.
